Are you a veteran wondering how to start your next chapter in life? At Saint Paul College, you’ll find a community that values your service and supports you every step of the way as you build a bright future.

Take it from Travis Mincey, a Navy veteran who discovered his passion for Cybersecurity and thrives at SPC. Travis served 12 years in Aviation Ordnance before being medically discharged as an E-5 Petty Officer, 2nd Class, in 2015. Travis spent the next ten years traveling, working various jobs and was happy to be out of military service. He moved to Saint Paul in 2024 to live with his sister, a traveling nurse. His sister motivated him to pursue education and identify his ideal career field, so he researched Saint Paul College. Based on the suggestion of a good friend to consider working in Cybersecurity, he was happy to see SPC offered this program, and he enrolled in Fall 2024. The Veteran Center became a crucial part of his success story.

The SPC Veteran Center is Travis’s favorite space on campus to chill and study. He is excited to see a growing energy in this space during his first half-year on campus. Even though Travis’s military experience wasn’t always great, he appreciates how service members and their families can connect and understand the unique traumas they have gone through in military service. He feels safe and comfortable in this inclusive environment where like-minded individuals seek to understand and support each other on their educational and personal journeys. He describes the Veteran Center as a one-stop shop for service members, veterans, and families to connect with numerous resources such as skill improvement, financial support, therapy, and other essential services.

Travis loves SPC, especially the diversity, quality people, and excellent teachers. He feels that the campus vibe is authentic and easy to connect with others. Travis is amazed and grateful at how all his teachers go above and beyond their base teaching duties to ensure all students succeed. “I love it here; I spend more time on campus than anywhere else,” shares Travis.

Travis’s goal? To earn his CyberSecurity AAS degree, transfer to a four-year school, and eventually become a traveling Cybersecurity Agent specializing in building computers. For him, Saint Paul College has been the perfect stepping stone to a promising future.

From career-focused education to personalized resources like the Veteran Center, SPC empowers veterans to succeed.
