For many young adults, the decision to enter college is a process that takes time and influence from family, friends, and career opportunities. At Saint Paul College, Workforce Training and Continuing Education hosts Annual Summer Camps for youth ages 13 to 18 to help introduce them to the college learning experience for in-demand career fields. There’s an extra emphasis on gathering students outside of Saint Paul, reaching Independent School Districts as far as Central, Northwest, South West, and South East Regions of Minnesota. This past summer, we were able to host just shy of 200 students who attended various week-long camps, including:

  • Scrubs Healthcare Exploration Camp with over 80 attendees.
  • Video Game Design Camp with over 30 campers.
  • Cosmetology & Esthetics with over 20 campers.
  • Culinary Camp with over 20 campers.
  • Imagine It! Design It! Make It! Manufacturing Camp with about 20 campers attending two separate weeks.

Students leave camps with a better understanding of careers in the Metro and State as they experience hands-on activities that inspire them to pursue their career ambitions further (of course, hoping they choose Saint Paul College as one of many destinations in the career education journey). Campers were enthusiastic about the new learning opportunities and the joy of making many new friends at each special summer event. You can watch the students’ enthusiasm at their End of Camp Slide Show captured during Scrubs Camp, July 2023.
