Program Overview

Gain the knowledge and skills needed to pursue a career in the construction industry in our Carpentry program. With hands-on training from experienced instructors, you’ll have the opportunity to put your skills into practice by working on real-world projects. You’ll develop the skills needed to build structures and to do interior finish work, such as hanging doors, trimming windows, and installing base moulding.

Hands-on experience in a state-of-the-art shop setting

While at Saint Paul College, you’ll get real-world experience by working in our state-of-the-art shop and hands-on learning, building real-world projects for community partners. We build furniture and cabinets for new and existing homes for nonprofit groups. 

Hands-on learning.

The majority of class time is spent working with tools and equipment. First semester is spent in the shop learning tool familiarity. Second and third semesters are spent on-site learning practical application.

A modern construction shop.

Students have access to a modern construction shop, equipped with modern tools and equipment used in the construction trade.

Four-day class week.

Learning takes place both in the school shop and on a job site, taking advantage of a four-day school week allowing more personal time.

Versatility of career options.

In addition to commercial and residential building and remodeling, the program teaches the fundamentals that can be used for a career in sales, building inspections, and project management to name a few.
