Community Partner of the Year Award: Alice Hausman, Minnesota District 66A Representative - Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL)
Alice Hausman is a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 66A which includes portions of Saint Paul, MN. She is also a retired educator and a lifelong supporter of Saint Paul College’s mission. We would like to thank Representative Hausman for her life-long love of education and dedication to public service.
Alumni of the Year Award: Pamela Wellumson, CEO/President of ASLIS
Pamela Wellumson graduated from the Saint Paul College Interpreter Training program in 1981 and went on to become the founder of Dynamic Communications and ASL Interpreting Services (ASLIS). Wellumson was nominated primarily by Erin Bunting of ASL Interpreting Services, and Saint Paul College alum, Richard Laurion, of the Collaborative for the Advancement of Teaching Interpreting Excellence at St. Catherine University. Twenty-seven other Saint Paul College Interpreter Training program alumni also signed the letter of nomination. They stated “Pamela's innovation, enterprise and devotion to the Saint Paul College and Deaf communities of her time and energies on behalf of others has been boundless, and we are all much richer for her ongoing contributions to the interpreting profession, and to Minnesota.”
