Michelle Briski has been teaching in the Medical Laboratory Technician Program at Saint Paul College since 1998. Her prior teaching experience included MLT faculty roles at Lakeland Academy in Minneapolis and Range Technical College in Hibbing, Minnesota. Prior to her career in education, Michelle has worked as a Medical Technologist in both hospital and clinic laboratories. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology/Medical Technology from Hamline University and a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Minnesota. In 2009, Michelle was a recipient of the Minnesota State College and Universities Board of Trustees Outstanding Teaching Award. She has authored and presented at numerous conferences at both the state and national level and, in 2008, played a chief role in the acquisition of a Department of Labor grant for Saint Paul College’s MLT Program. In 2015-16 Michelle participated with a committee of Medical Laboratory Science educators from across the country to update the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science’s Entry Level Curriculum. She is a member of the ASCLS laboratory medicine professional organization and also participates in the HealthForce MN Laboratory Education-Industry Partnership. Michelle’s passion for teaching is embedded in her desire to help students reach their full potential. She recognizes her role as a mentor and is motivated by witnessing students’ transformation from novice to laboratory science career professional.
