In order to be admitted to Saint Paul College as an international student, you must provide proof of English language proficiency. You can meet this requirement through test scores or successful completion of courses.
Ways to meet the requirements.
Proof for one of the following must be provided:
- Test of English Foreign Language (TOEFL) – 52 iBT with at least 12 on each section, 150 computer-based, 470 paper-based, or B2 CEFR level TOEFL Essentials

- Cambridge English B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency – 162
- Duolingo – 85 or above. Completely 100% online test.
- Pearson English Proficiency Test (Pearson PTE) – 42 or above
- ACCUPLACER – only for applicants inside of the US. The ACCUPLACER is SPC’s on-campus placement test. Applicant must score into EAPP 0700 course levels or higher in each section.
- Test of English Foreign Language (TOEFL) – 48 iBT

- Cambridge English B1 Preliminary, B2 First – 154
- Duolingo – 70 or above. Completely 100% online test.
- Pearson English Proficiency Test (Pearson PTE) – 36 or above
- English Language Center (ELS) – completion of Intensive Level 109
- Minnesota English Language Program (MELP) at the University of Minnesota – completion of Level 2, Intermediate
- Completion of college-level English composition course from a U.S. institution with a grade of “C” or higher. Official transcript required.
All admitted F-1 students need to take the ACCUPLACER® Assessment during F-1 International Student Orientation approximately one week before classes start.
