Amy Tarrell

Academic Affairs, Liberal and Fine Arts

Amy Tarrell-Florey began teaching at Saint Paul College in 2008. She teaches courses in reading, writing, grammar, and speaking/listening to non-native English speakers. Before coming to Saint Paul College, Amy taught at Minneapolis Community & Technical College, the University of Minnesota, Wuhan University in China, and the Anglo-American Business Institute in Argentina. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master’s degree in ESL from the University of Minnesota. Amy thinks the best thing about teaching ESOL is working with students from all over the world. She enjoys learning about her students’ language, food, traditions, and culture and often feels she learns as much from her students as they do from her. In the classroom, Amy aims to help students improve their English, understand the expectations of American colleges, and effectively use technology for their assignments. In her spare time, Amy likes to run marathons, cook, explore the state parks of Minnesota, and spend time with her husband and son.
