Learning different languages can be challenging for many. Robin Jungwirth, an English-speaking student from Green Bay, Wisconsin, received her B.A. in Spanish Linguistics with a minor in Japanese from U.W. Eau Claire. She is now at Saint Paul College to learn the unique coding languages of computers in our Computer Programming AAS degree. Robin’s communication skills often include witty humor, as she wants others to know that her name, Robin, is spelled with three “I’s,” one in her name and two “eyes” on her face.
After graduating from Eau Claire in 2016, Robin Jungwirth spent 5.5 years teaching English in a small Japanese town of Obama, yes, Obama, Japan. Robin enjoyed working abroad but recognized she wanted to work in a larger community offering more amenities and activities and quality public transportation options. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Robin grew homesick and pondered switching careers to the language of computers. She went back to Wisconsin to live with her parents for a half year and assess her best options for this career transition. Robin loved the urban vibe of Saint Paul and the positive reviews of our Computer Programming program and decided to enroll at SPC in the Fall of 2022.
Robin has flourished in her studies and is on track to graduate this Spring. She enjoys problem-solving with computer technology and seeing results right away. Robin enjoys connecting with other students and thinks SPC is the perfect small college with every important amenity in one spot. She works 20 hours per week on campus as a Program Assistant in TRIO Student Support Services and We Thrive, where she enjoys helping other students thrive academically and beyond. Following graduation, Robin is excited to begin her new career in Computer Programming, where she can bring ideas to life and create special computer programs that positively impact the world.
Robin believes her background in a foreign language has helped her adapt to the unique language of computers. She is passionate about studying in a male-dominated field and aims to inspire other women to consider this program.
