Beyond learning the science of skin, estheticians understand that using hands-on modern equipment is essential to providing quality skincare services. Our Advanced Esthetics program combines these fundamental principles to prepare our students for fulfilling career opportunities. The program is wildly popular and successful, and it is one of the few esthetician programs in the regional area that allows students to receive federal financial aid. Students thoroughly love this program!
Jessica Velez is wrapping up her Advanced Esthetics schooling this semester, a goal she has had much of her young life. Jessica loves the friendly SPC community, where she feels safe and accepted by her fellow students and teachers. She finds the teachers friendly, knowledgeable, and approachable to her questions. With a twinkle in her eye, Jessica shares that “it is insane how much I have learned at SPC.”Through both classroom and hands-on experience, she grasps details about skin histology and many other skin conditions, making her eager to help others improve their skin condition. Jessica will graduate this December and plans to start her career at a medical spa, where she can continue learning the medical side of esthetics by working for a Medical Director.
Fellow student Nafia Sikder came to the program from a different perspective. As a 45-year-old, she never thought she would pursue this career field at this point in her life. After examining her educational options, she felt the basic esthetician program would keep her attention as a field where she could use her science interests in combination with her desire to work with her hands. After completing the basic Esthetician program last spring, she reflected on her love for this career over the summer and decided to obtain her state license and re-enroll in the SPC Advance course. She recognizes that aging is natural but loves the opportunity esthetics provides her to help others slow down the aging process with healthier skin. After graduating this December, Nafia plans to start her first career job in a dermatology, medical spa, or plastic surgeon office setting.
Combining affordable education with significant hands-on training on state-of-the-art equipment allows students to learn critical aspects of skincare and go on to fulfilling & rewarding careers. SPC offers hybrid classes for students with limited time availability. Students also receive hands-on training with SPC’s state-of-the-art esthetician equipment, which includes:
- Zemits Skin Analysis Machine – students bring this mobile equipment around campus to offer free analysis of community members’ skin conditions and offer treatment recommendations.
- Hydrafacial® uses patented technology to cleanse, extract, and hydrate with super serums made with nourishing ingredients that create a gratifying glow.
- High-frequency Machine helps kill bacteria and promote circulation in the skin.
- LED/Light Therapy devices to stimulate collagen production, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, heal acne, and address pigmentation concerns.
- Dermaplaning – a blade removes the top layer of dead skin cells and vellus hair, aka “peach fuzz,” creating a smoother, brighter complexion.
- Microneedling (i.e., Collagen Induction Therapy) uses motorized fine needles to stimulate collagen production, improve texture from acne scarring, and reduce the signs of premature aging.
- A Microdermabrasion Machine that uses crystal-free diamond-tipped microdermabrasion to help suction off dead skin, allowing better product penetration into the skin.
