Materials Handling Forklift Training and Safety
This 18-hour two part course provides the entry level worker with the foundational skills to become involved with logistics and material handling in a variety of work environments.
Module 1: OSHA 10 Hour Safety Training
This class is taught by an OSHA authorized trainer approved by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration's (OSHA). The OSHA 10 hour training class is conducted over two days.
This training will:
- Provide workers with an overview of OSHA, as well as information on how to locate specific OSHA regulations, how to identify, abate, avoid, and prevent job-related hazards on a job site.
- Inform workers about their rights and their employer's responsibilities, and explains how to file a complaint with OSHA.
- Cover a variety of general industry safety and health hazards which a worker may encounter including electrical safety, working surfaces fall protection and other training topics that pertain to worksite operations. Everyone who completes an OSHA 10 hour course will receive a 10 Hour Training Certificate, plus the official OSHA 10 hour wallet card.
Module 2: Forklift Training and Safety
This eight hour course will include both classroom and behind–the–wheel training. In this program, you will learn to recognize and respect the potential associated hazards and skills needed to safely operate a forklift. Students will learn about the OSHA standard (OSHA 29CFR 1910.178) that applies to Powered Industrial Trucks and the hazards present in the work environment. Proper driving techniques, proper balance for loads, center of gravity, load placement, safe fueling/recharging and completing an inspection checklist will also be covered.
