Speech Faculty

Anna Ignatjeva is a full-time Instructor in the Speech Department at Saint Paul College and teaches a variety of courses, including Interpersonal Communication, Intercultural Communication as well as Fundamentals of Public Speaking. Anna, originally from Latvia, has taught speech communication courses at a number of colleges across Minnesota since 2001. With a personal understanding of the needs of speech students for whom English is not a first language, she strives to tailor instruction to support and encourage their success.

Anna holds a B.A. in English from the University of Latvia in Riga, Latvia, and a M.S. in Speech Communication from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Her academic areas of interest are communication education, as well as research in the fields of intercultural communication and listening. Anna’s recent research projects have also focused on computer-mediated communication, and professional and technical communication.

Shelby Reigstad Shelby Reigstad Instructor Speech Phone: 651.846.1730 E-mail Shelby Reigstad Shelby Reigstad is a full-time Speech Instructor at Saint Paul College teaching Interpersonal Communication, Intercultural Communication, Small Group, and Computer-Mediated Communication. She also advises the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and is involved in many campus activities, including Student Success Days. Before joining the College on a full-time basis, Shelby was an Adjunct Instructor while working in the advertising industry for nine years with clients from 3M to Microsoft. She has also taught part-time at four-year colleges in the metro area.

Shelby studied human communication at Bethel University obtaining an M.A. in Communication in 2001. She feels fortunate to teach at Saint Paul College in a field where she has both academic and industry credentials. She is committed to providing the best possible education for her students and pursues life-long learning opportunities to stay abreast of ongoing developments in the field. Dan Paulnock began as a part-time Speech Instructor at Saint Paul College in 1999 and has had full-time status in the Speech and Theatre Department since 2002. He currently serves as the Chair of Communication, English, Speech, and Theatre. Dan teaches a number of courses including Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, Mass Media, and Family Communication in traditional and on-line classrooms. He has developed a number of new courses for the College and provides leadership for co-curricular activities including the E-Folio Fest, Liberal Arts and Sciences E-folio Presentations, and Student Success Seminars.

Dan received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Communications Studies from Emerson College, in Boston and worked as a News Reporter and Radio Talk-Show Host in Boston and New York City. During this time, Dan was also the Head of the Speech and Drama Departments and the Instructional Media Center for a suburban Boston Public School System. He later worked for several Fortune 100 Companies in a variety of marketing positions of increasing responsibility. Dan relocated to the Twin Cities to take a position as the Director of World-wide Marketing for an Audio, Video and Computer Presentation Products Firm, and then as the General Manager of an international meeting services company, blending his practical lessons from his business career with a knowledge of human communications, to provide support and consulting for major organizations and corporations.

In addition to serving the College, Dan has been asked to provide presentations on the E-folio and other professional development training for the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.

Carol Paulnock is a faculty member in the Speech Department at Saint Paul College and has contributed to the development of several new courses in the discipline. She currently teaches in traditional and on-line classrooms in Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, and Gender Communication across Cultures. She serves on faculty teams developing an interdisciplinary pre-major in Women and Gender Studies and co-curricular activities including the E-Folio Fest, Liberal Arts and Sciences E-folio Presentations, and Student Success Seminars.

Carol received a Bachelors degree in Speech Communication from Emerson College and a Masters degree in Speech Communication from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Before coming to Saint Paul College, Carol taught Speech and Drama in Boston. After relocating to the Twin Cities, Carol worked in the communications industry in a number of positions including graphic production, print and internet publication, presentational services, and marketing. She has spent a lifetime working to improve human communication and is dedicated to helping Saint Paul College students improve their communication skills for work and life roles.
